The collaborative whiteboard
built for teaching

Open a room, share one link, and teach on infinite canvases that sync in real time. Give every student a private copy of a worksheet and watch them work. Equations, graphs, PDFs and slides — all on the board, and a Record Mode when you want to make a video of it.

Live in your classroom in under a minute

  1. 1

    Open a room

Sign up free and create a room. You get a join link and an 8-character code.

  2. 2

    Students join by link

They open the link or type the code, enter a name, and they are in — no accounts, no installs.

  3. 3

    Teach together

Draw on shared canvases, hand out private copies, present to every screen, and watch students work live.

The Classroom

One room. Everyone on the board.

Work together on shared canvases, or hand each student their own — and switch between the two in a click.

Real-time, for real

Every stroke, shape, sticky note and equation appears on everyone's screen instantly, with live cursors showing who is working where. No refresh, no lag, no lost work.

🧑‍🎓

A private canvas for every student

“Give everyone a copy” hands each student their own copy of a worksheet that only they and you can see. Open any one to watch it update live and draw on it to guide them.

📺

Present to every screen

One tap puts your canvas on every student's screen and follows your view as you pan and zoom. Stop presenting and they are back to their own work.

👥

Breakout groups

Split the class into groups with their own canvases, move people between them, and bring everyone back together when you are done.

💬

Chat & reactions

Room chat and private teacher–student messages, plus raise-hand and quick reactions so quiet students can still say “I'm stuck”.

🛡️

You hold the keys

Optional lobby to admit students one by one. Switch the room to read-only, turn off a tool for one student, or remove someone — they can't come back.

The Canvas

A board that fits how you teach

Infinite space when you want it, clean pages when you don't — with real math tools built in.

🌌

Infinite, paged, or scrolling

An endless pan-and-zoom canvas, fixed pages in A4, Letter or 16:9, or a page that grows as you write and exports as a tidy multi-page PDF.

Math-grade tools

LaTeX equations rendered as crisp, re-editable vectors, function graphs, a scientific calculator and unit converter, plus ruler and protractor overlays.

📚

PDFs, slides & docs

Drop in PDFs, images, Word, PowerPoint or Excel files and teach over them. Pages land as locked layers you can annotate without nudging.

🖊️

A full drawing kit

Pen, highlighter, a precision eraser that rubs out part of a stroke, shapes, arrows, text, sticky notes, fill colours, stamps — with undo, copy/paste and lock.

🧩

Backgrounds that teach

Grid, dots, ruled, graph paper, isometric, music staff, or a classic blackboard — with adjustable spacing for handwriting practice and plotting.

📝

Docs & code, too

Rich-text documents and a collaborative code editor live alongside your canvases in the same room, so a lesson plan, a worksheet and a live demo sit side by side.

Beyond the live class

Record it. Run it. Reuse it.

The same room works for a recorded lecture, a tutoring session, or a self-paced worksheet — nothing to set up twice.

  • Record Mode: fullscreen, every panel hidden, just your canvas and a minimal toolbar for any screen recorder
  • Classroom apps that stay in sync: timer, countdown, poll, dice, spinner, name picker, scoreboard
  • Embed YouTube, Vimeo and web pages straight onto the canvas — play and pause for everyone
  • Save any canvas as a template and reuse it in your next room
  • Export PNG, multi-page PDF with print margins, or the whole room as a ZIP
  • Optional AI helpers for worksheet drafts, grading suggestions and session summaries — always a proposal you confirm, never an action taken for you

Frequently asked questions

Is Nuxoboard free?+

Yes. Nuxoboard is free and open source under the MIT license. You can use it as-is or self-host it on your own server so your classroom data stays with you.

Do my students need accounts?+

No. Students open the room link (or type the 8-character room code), enter a name, and they are in — no sign-up, no email, no installation. Only teachers create an account, with a simple email and password.

Can everyone draw at the same time?+

Yes. Rooms are truly collaborative: every stroke, shape, note and equation syncs to everyone instantly, with live cursors so you can see who is working where. You can also switch the room to read-only whenever you need the floor.

Can I see my students’ work privately?+

Yes. “Give everyone a copy” hands each student a private copy of a canvas that only they and you can see. Open any student’s private canvas to watch it update live and draw on it to give feedback — without the rest of the class seeing.

Does it work for math and science teaching?+

Yes. Nuxoboard includes a LaTeX equation editor that renders as sharp, re-editable vectors, a function-plotting graph tool, a scientific calculator and unit converter, ruler and protractor overlays, and grid, graph-paper and isometric backgrounds.

Can I import my existing PDFs and slides?+

Yes. Import PDFs and each page becomes an annotatable canvas layer. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OpenDocument files are converted automatically on the server. Export any canvas as PNG, a multi-page PDF with print margins, or the whole room as a ZIP.

Can I use Nuxoboard to record lectures?+

Yes. Record Mode hides every panel, goes fullscreen, and leaves just your canvas and a minimal toolbar — capture it with any screen recorder. Fixed 16:9 pages are built in for clean video framing.
